The Lapua Rimfire Performance Center (LRPC) at the Cardinal Shooting Center in Marengo, Ohio, has reopened following a five-week closure due to Covid-19 restrictions enacted in Ohio.

Lapua will test customer rifles shipped to the LRPC. Beginning May 11 the LRPC will open for customers with appointments to bring firearms on site with safety restrictions in place.

Patterned after the world-renowned Lapua Performance Center in Germany, the Cardinal and existing location in Mesa, Arizona, give shooters the opportunity to test various types of Lapua ammunition under tightly controlled conditions. Fully instrumented, with state of the art Meyton/Bollman electronic targeting systems, the centers offer the unique ability to test ammunition at 50 and 100 meters, simultaneously with a single string.

Leupold Mark 5HD Selected by U.S. Army

Leupold & Stevens' award-winning Mark 5HD riflescope has been selected for use with the United States Army’s M110 Semi-Automatic Sniper System.

The Mark 5HD is designed, machined and assembled in the company’s Beaverton, Oregon. factory. The Mark 5HD that’s being built for the M110 will come in a proprietary flat dark earth coating and utilize the Army’s patented Mil-Grid Reticle. It will include a Leupold Mark IMS mount.

The 3.6-18 is the second Mark 5HD model to be selected for use by the U.S. Army this year. The 5-25x56, featuring the same FDE coating and reticle, was selected by the Army Precision Sniper Rifle Program in April.

“The men and women of the U.S. armed forces require and deserve the very best, and when it comes to riflescopes, that’s the Mark 5HD,” said Bruce Pettet, President and Chief Executive Officer for Leupold & Stevens, Inc. “Our optics face strenuous durability testing, and fully meet the extremely high performance standards that the military demands.”

Three Mark 5HD models – a 7-35x56, 5-25x56, and 3.6-18x44 – are available in milliradian and MOA configurations.

Leupold & Stevens Freedom RDS in Black Ring Model

Leupold & Stevens' award-winning Freedom RDS (Red Dot Sight) is now available in a Black Ring model.

Originally featuring the company’s trademark Gold Ring around its objective bell, the RDS will now have an all-black finish similar to the company’s Mark 5HD, Mark 6, and Mark 8 riflescopes. A tubular red dot sight built for performance and versatility, the new RDS is available in two models: One features capped precision ¼-MOA click adjustments, the other a precision exposed BDC elevation turret that ships with measurements out to 500 yards for standard 55-grain .223 Rem. ammunition.

The RDS is designed to install easily with an included mount that sits at the optimal height for use on AR-style rifles. A third version, featuring the capped precision ¼-MOA click adjustments, will be available without the included mount. A 34mm maintube allows the RDS to be mounted using any appropriately-sized rings.

The Freedom RDS features a 1-MOA dot reticle that’s supported by Leupold’s battery-saving Motion Sensor Technology (MST), which puts the sight into a battery-saving standby mode after five minutes of inactivity. When the MST detects motion, it instantly activates the sight so it’s ready when you are. A manual mode allows the sight to shut off when not in use. Eight illumination settings are available, making the dot easily visible in low-light conditions or the midday sun.
