The Vermont State Police has adopted the Sig Sauer M400 Pro Rifle as the official patrol rifle of the Vermont State Troopers.
The Vermont State Police has jurisdiction for public safety throughout the Green Mountain State, with more than 300 sworn state troopers.
“We chose the Sig Sauer M400 Pro Rifle because of the superior quality, reliability and accuracy of the rifle. This was an ideal choice for our department because the firearm has been extensively tested for reliability in extreme conditions, and the service and support from Sig Sauer has been outstanding,” said Sergeant Eugene Duplissis, Head Firearm Instructor and Armorer, Vermont State Police. “Our Troopers transition to the M400 Pro has been flawless and motivating because of their familiarity with the platform and the performance, reliability, accuracy and capabilities of the rifle. Vermont State Troopers are proud to have this rifle and confident it will help them protect the people of Vermont.”
The Sig Sauer M400 Pro is an AR-platform rifle with a direct impingement gas operating system. The M400 features a full-length free-float M-LOK hand guard, enhanced SIG trigger, six-position telescoping stock, a rotating lock bolt and is chambered in 5.56 NATO.

Second Amendment Foundation Sues Connecticut
The Second Amendment Foundation and Connecticut Citizens Defense League have filed suit in Federal District Court challenging the State of Connecticut’s prohibition on ammunition magazines holding more than 10 rounds, or loading more than 10 cartridges into a so-called “high capacity magazine.”
The lawsuit is filed on behalf of Connecticut residents Susan Ross and Domenic Basile. Plaintiffs are represented by noted civil rights attorney David Jensen of New York.
Named as defendants are Connecticut State Police Col. Stavros Mellekas; Commissioner James C. Rovella of the state Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, and Chief State’s Attorney Richard J. Colangelo, Jr., all in their official capacities. The case is known as Ross v. Mellekas.
The lawsuit alleges state violations of the Second and Fourteenth amendments. Since 2013, Connecticut statute has prohibited individuals from having magazines containing more than ten rounds of ammunition. Violations of the statute can be prosecuted as Class D felonies.
Ross owns a pistol with an original-capacity magazine that can hold 17 cartridges and Basile has pistols that hold 15 rounds in their magazines. Both are licensed to carry for personal and family protection, yet they justifiably worry that they could be prosecuted for carrying fully-loaded defensive sidearms under the state law.
Tasmanian Tiger Donates $25K to Team 5 World Expedition
Tasmanian Tiger, a tactical nylon line of products distributed exclusively for the U.S. market by Proforce Equipment, has donated $25,000 to support the Team 5 Medical Foundation's five month, five continent expedition to supply medical care to hard-to-reach populations.
