When the U.S. Supreme Court sent down its landmark decision last year in the case New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, things changed for concealed carry in the United States. Among other important things — like setting an entirely new standard for courts to use when considering Second Amendment cases — Bruen upheld the right for lawful Americans to carry a firearm outside the home for self-defense.

The ruling quickly made waves. Prohibitive states like New York and New Jersey, which had previously made getting a concealed carry permit nearly impossible, began to look for ways around the ruling. They passed new, equally onerous laws that are currently being hashed out in court. And other states that had very prohibitive laws quietly swept them aside and made it easier to receive permits in their jurisdictions. 

Add to the Bruen ruling the fact that two more states — Nebraska and Florida — have passed “permitless” constitutional carry laws in 2023, bringing the total number of states that don’t regulate concealed carry to 27, and you see why small, concealed carry handguns continue to gain in popularity.

When it comes to everyday carry guns, there is no doubt that the 9mm is the reigning king. While the big .45 ACP and small .380 ACP have plenty of followers, those carrying 9mm pistols far outnumber aficionados of both .45 and .380, along with revolvers of various sizes and calibers.

That being said, let’s take a look at seven new concealed carry pistols chambered in 9mm that your customers are likely to be asking about soon.

Anderson Kiger-9c Pro

Anderson Manufacturing is well known for selling durable, well-made products for the firearms industry. That’s why the company introducing a new 9mm handgun — the Kiger-9c — caught the attention of many at the 2023 Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show in January.

The compact, striker-fired Kiger-9c Pro is built on an original polymer frame with over-molded side rails. It is optics ready, featuring an RMR footprint complemented by steel, suppressor-height sights. The DLC-coated 416 stainless steel slide features lightening cuts on either side at the front, with a port directly behind the front sights. The DLC-coated, fluted barrel is made of 416 stainless steel.

Aggressive stippling, slide texturing and cuts make for a solid grip, while the trigger’s 5.5-pound break makes for quick, easy follow-up shots. A beveled magazine well aids in reload speed, and a Picatinny rail on the bottom of the frame allows for easy mounting of a light or laser. The Kiger-9c Pro has a 3.91-inch barrel, with an overall length of 7.35 inches. Width is 1.26 inches, and the gun ships with a 15-round Magpul magazine. MSRP is $539.

Canik Mete MC9

It’s no exaggeration to say that Canik is producing some of the finest striker-fired pistols available now at just about any price. Fortunately for consumers, the price is right, too, on these fine guns.

The Mete MC9 is a subcompact striker-fired gun that is small, powerful and accurate. It has a 3.18-inch barrel and an overall length of 6.1 inches. Weight is 21.2 ounces empty, and width is 1.12 inches at the widest point.

The new design features a comfortable, improved beavertail to get a high grip on the pistol for more control. Aggressive front and rear slide serrations help facilitate easy slide manipulation.

Sights consist of a blacked-out rear and white-dot front. The Mete MC9 comes optics ready, and each gun ships in a hard case that includes two magazines (12 and 15 rounds), an IWB holster, three different backstraps for sizing, a tool kit and punch, a speed loader, pinky rest and cleaning kit. MSRP for the whole kit and kaboodle is $440. 

CZ P-10 C

CZ-USA is known for its quality handguns that fit the hand well and shoot with great accuracy. The new P-10 C isn’t going to do anything to diminish that outstanding reputation.

With the CZ grip angle, the P-10 avoids that ‘brick-in-the-hand’ feeling that plagues some striker-fired pistols. The P-10’s trigger is designed to minimize creep and stacking, and after initial break-in averages a clean 4.5- to 5-pound pull. It also rebounds with a short, positive reset.

The pistol’s fiber-reinforced polymer frame and hardy nitride finish make it well-suited to the rigors of daily carry. And a somewhat oversized trigger guard makes shooting with gloves much easier. A reversible magazine release makes it southpaw friendly, and it is easily swapped from side to side in just a few minutes.

The gun has a 4-inch barrel and an overall length of 7.2 inches. Weight is 26 ounces empty, and width is 1.26 inches. Incredibly, the P-10 C carries an MSRP of only $399, making it a great deal for a 15+1 capacity carry pistol made by a legendary company.

EAA/Girsan High Power MC P35 PI OPS

Florida-based European American Armory Corporation continues to earn its reputation for bringing quality, affordable firearms to the U.S. market with the EAA/Girsan MC P35 PI OPS. The company launched a full-size High Power, the MC P35, a couple years ago and has since introduced the smaller MC P35 PI OPS with a 15+1 capacity in 9mm.  

The MC P35 PI OPS has all the features and design characteristics High Power enthusiasts desire, but in a smaller footprint that makes it a perfect fit for concealed carry. Equipped with an optic-ready slide featuring an RMS/RMSc footprint, the MC P35 PI OPS allows easy attachment of a red-dot, providing an edge in any shooting situation. Additionally, the extended beavertail design ensures a comfortable and safe shooting experience, preventing hammer bite while enhancing grip. The MC P35 PI OPS also has an accessory rail for lights or lasers to enhance accuracy in low-light conditions. IWI Masada Slim 

For those unfamiliar with Israeli Weapon Industries, they’ve been making quality weapons for the Israeli military for many decades. Last year’s introduction of the Masada made a lot of waves because the full-size semi-auto pistol performed great at a very reasonable price point.

The Masada Slim follows in its big brother’s footsteps. The polymer, striker-fired pistol comes optics-ready to fit many popular red-dot sights. Of course, the gun also comes with traditional iron sights with a blacked out rear and white-dot front.

Like the P-10C, the Masada Slim features an oversized trigger guard for use when wearing gloves. Like its predecessor, it features a modular, serialized, high-grade steel trigger mechanism housing that can easily be removed for cleaning and maintenance. A built-in trigger safety helps prevent unwanted discharges.

The pistol features a 3.4-inch barrel and has an overall length of 6.25 inches. Weight is about 22 ounces with an empty magazine inserted, and width is a slim 1 inch. Currently only available in black, the IWI Masada slim ships with two 13-round magazines. MSRP is $450.

FN Reflex

Known for top-quality pistols of all shapes and sizes, FN just introduced the Reflex in spring of 2023. It is small in size, has a large capacity and boasts 9mm potency — just what concealed carriers are looking for in an EDC pistol.

The Reflex features a 3.3-inch barrel and has an overall length of 6.2 inches. Empty weight is 18.4 ounces, and the gun ships with an 11-round and a 15-round magazine. Unlike most of the compact pistols in this category, the Reflex isn’t striker-fired, rather it features a match-grade fire control group that is hammer driven. 

Other features of the Reflex include a stippled grip, front and rear slide cuts for easy slide manipulation, a 5-pound trigger pull and a reversible magazine release. The pistol’s three-dots sights include a front night sight with tritium insert and high visibility orange circle for low-light use.

MSRP of the Reflex is a very reasonable $599. An MRD model of the Reflex is also available and comes with a milled slide that accepts red-dots with the Shield RMSc and Holosun K-Series footprints. That optics-ready model carries an MSRP of $659.

Stoeger STR-9SC

Stoeger has been in the shotgun game for a lot longer than the company has been making handguns, but it’s proven its ability to make reliable, high-quality pistols that are sold for a very reasonable price. And that’s exactly what the STR-9SC is, but in a subcompact form.

For a very small, value-priced striker-fired pistol, the STR-9SC has a lot to offer your customers. The gun has a 3.54-inch barrel, and overall length is a diminutive 6.54 inches. Weight is just 22 ounces empty, and capacity is 10+1 rounds of 9mm.

The gun features a textured polymer grip, nitride-coated steel barrel and an enhanced magazine well to speed up reloads when time is critical. Three interchangeable backstraps give shooters the opportunity to custom fit the grip to their hand. The three-dot sight system features snag-resistant edges to ensure smooth draws and holstering of the pistol.

Manufacturer’s suggested retail price is $329. The STR-9SC is also available in an optics-ready model for those who prefer a red-dot sight on their carry pistol. MSRP for that model is $449. 

Smith & Wesson Equalizer TS

Smith and Wesson has long been known for their fantastic M&P line of striker-fired, semi-auto pistols, carbines and rifles. The S&W Equalizer lives up to that legendary quality, and even offers 15+1 round capacity with an extended magazine.

The Equalizer features a single-action trigger that allows for a short take-up, clean break and fast reset to make follow-up shots quicker and more accurate. The slide’s easy-to-rack technology caters to those with less hand strength, and the frame includes a Picatinny rail for mounting a light or laser.

While the Equalizer features white-dot sights for easy target acquisition, it also ships optics ready that allows the user to mount their choice of red-dot sight. The gun also features an optimal 18-degree grip angle and a new grip texture and pattern designed to give shooters more control when firing and more comfort when carrying.

With a 3.75-inch barrel, the Equalizer has an overall length of 6.75 inches. Width is a slim 1.04 inches, and it weighs 22.9 ounces empty. Magazines available for the Equalizer hold 10, 13 and 15 rounds. MSRP is $599.
