Prime Archery Pro Staff member Kenny Lantz recently took first place in the Open Pro Division at the ASA Foley, Alabama, Pro/AM event. Lantz, a Pennsylvania native, was competing in his first 3-D competition of the season.

While the nasty winter weather was not ideal for training or practice, Lantz took the lead on day one and went on to qualify first for the five-person shoot off. With a comfortable lead, Lantz could play it safe in the shoot off, while others had to gamble in attempts to catch him. For his efforts, G5/Prime awarded Kenny with a check for $12,000 based upon his contingency participation.

"Ask anyone and they'll tell you the same thing, Kenny is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet and one of the most deserving people for this win,” said G5/Prime Pro Staff Manager Tim Checkeroski. “He works hard and takes a very disciplined approach to the competitions, representing the Prime Brand with distinction everywhere he goes."

With a field of superior shooters, the Open Pro division requires shooters to first accurately estimate the range of each shot, and then execute the shot flawlessly. The targets can range anywhere up to 50 yards (+/- 2 yards), and as many competitors have noted, the organizers like to take full advantage of this +/- variation, while playing with the terrain to create uncertainty in the shooters’ minds.

"It has been tough these past years coming so close to the podium only to miss it by a couple of points,” said Lantz. “This game is won with a combination of the right equipment and mental training, and this weekend it really came together for me with my Logic CT9. This win is a great kick off to the season."
