The Pope and Young Club is one of America’s most prestigious bowhunting and conservation organizations. Its longstanding commitment to the preservation of conservation, bowhunting and fair-chase ethics corresponds well with the mission of the Scholastic 3-D Archery Association (S3DA). Recently, the P&Y Club named S3DA as the recipient of a $10,000 sponsorship.
“The Pope and Young Club is proud to support the Scholastic 3-D Archery program,” said Pope and Young Club President Jim Willems. “The Club’s mission to ensure bowhunting for future generations by preserving and promoting its heritage and values, aligns directly with the efforts of S3DA. Teaching kids and instructors the important role bowhunting and bowhunters play in the conservation of North American game species is needed now more than ever before. We are proud to be associated with this incredibly effective program.”
S3DA is a youth archery organization that seeks to foster, educate and guide youth in the areas of 3-D, indoor target, and outdoor target archery as well as safe, ethical bowhunting practices. In working together, the P&Y Club and S3DA continue to grow the sport of archery and push the conservation message to a group of individuals that would otherwise have never been exposed.
The “S3DA/P&Y Clear Path Initiative” is a combined effort between Scholastic 3D Archery and The P&Y Club to help students and their families transition from introductory archery to a lifetime of wildlife conservation, fair chase and ethical hunting practices. Whether students or coaches in the S3DA program decide to bowhunt or not, they will learn about the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation, The Pittman Robertson Act and the important role bowhunters and bowhunting play in the preservation of our wild game animals.
S3DA Executive Director Jennie Richardson said, “The Pope and Young Club’s commitment to our program enables us to continue to grow the sport of archery. We know that S3DA is making a difference in archery, shooting sports and conservation, thanks in large part to the Pope & Young Club.”
About Scholastic 3-D Archery
Started in December 2012 by the Scholastic Archery Association, S3DA has grown tremendously as a next-step program to follow introductory programs offered as part of 4-H or the National Archery in Schools Program. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving thousands of young archers, grades 3–12.
