Hoyt Archery certainly needs no introduction. As one of the most respected manufacturers of high-quality bowhunting and target archery products, the company is a giant in the archery industry. The recent news of Hoyt becoming the newest sponsor of NASP, however, shows that the leadership at Hoyt understands the value of long-term relationships.
More than 2 million young archers per year in 47 states and 11 other countries take part in NASP, but during NASP events and competitions they all shoot the same bow model, which is manufactured by a competitor of Hoyt’s, namely Genesis Archery, which falls under the Mission/Mathews Archery umbrella. Even so, Hoyt understands that many of these students will go on to become life-long bowhunters, and when they do, Hoyt hopes they will consider a new Hoyt bow.
NASP Vice President and General Manager Tommy Floyd said, “We are extremely grateful and proud of our new relationship with Hoyt Archery. Hoyt is certainly seen as one of the real leaders in the archery and outdoor industry. Having met with Randy Walk and his team, I came away thoroughly convinced that our kids will truly benefit from becoming more aware and connected with this great company. Along with our current sponsors, Hoyt brings a real passion for the ‘archery lifestyle.’ When our kids look at their next archery steps after NASP, we know that support from Hoyt is something they will truly appreciate and remember. We are humbled and very excited about this announcement!”
“We are excited and proud to partner with NASP,” said Hoyt Archery President Randy Walk. “We have always had great respect and admiration for the NASP program and their unwavering drive to utilize archery as the means to help teach focus, discipline and patience to young students as life lessons required to be successful in the classroom and in life. We look forward to combining our efforts and passion for archery in achieving the mission of NASP.”
NASP President Roy Grimes said, “For the nearly 2 decades of NASP's existence, many in the archery world have been aware of the archery interest our program has inspired among students and their parents. Hoyt is legendary for supporting archery and archers around the globe. We are grateful and welcome Hoyt being counted among our other wonderful sponsors, helping to continue NASP expansion in schools everywhere.”
Kudos to Hoyt for stepping up to support NASP as a sponsor. In times when it seems like companies make financial decisions based on immediate ROI (return on investment), Hoyt is making a long-term investment in youth archers.
P.S. If you’ve never had the chance to attend a major NASP event, then perhaps you can change that during 2019. The National Archery in the Schools Program will host the following three major national and international tournaments in 2019: The Western National Tournament on April 26-27 in Salt Lake City, Utah; The Eastern National Tournament on May 9-11 in Louisville, Kentucky; and the Open and Championship Tournaments in Nashville, Tennessee, July 25-27.
