Grand View Outdoors (GVO) recently added experienced writer, editor — and avid bowhunter — Dave Maas to its team. Prior to joining GVO, Maas spent 13 years as managing editor for North American Hunter magazine/website. While Maas will assist Editor-in-Chief Jace Bauserman with production of Bowhunting World and Archery Business print publications, he will focus primarily on website content for the two brands.
“Bowhunting is my No. 1 passion in the outdoors,” Maas said, “so I’m very excited for this opportunity. I’ve been a fan of Bowhunting World for decades, and because I spent several years working retail in the outdoor industry, I hope to bring some insight to Archery Business as well.”
When it comes to his choice in bowhunting gear, Maas doesn’t play favorites. “I began bowhunting with a Bear recurve when I was 12, then jumped on the compound craze in the late 1970s,” he recalled. “I shot a wood-handled Browning Deluxe Nomad for a few years, then went back to traditional archery and bought a custom Robertson Stykbow recurve. In addition to my Stykbow, I have a long-axle compound for finger-shooting, plus a few short-axle compounds for use with releases. I enjoy hunting with crossbows, too.”
