Finishing off an impressive year as World Archery’s most decorated archer, Team USA’s Braden Gellenthien brought home more hardware with his gold medal finish in Rome, Italy, at the second Indoor World Series tournament.
Qualifying fourth among the world’s best with a score of 595, Gellenthien won the semifinals with the highest scoring match of the day, a perfect 150, to advance to the gold medal match. There, a single arrow 148-148 shoot-off was needed, and Gellenthien took the title with a perfect 10.
“Comfort and precision are the name of the game when it comes to high-level archery competitions,” said Braden Gellenthien. “Scott releases and CBE sights provide me with exactly that. The confidence I have in these products helps me to compete at my very best — allowing me to focus on the game while Scott and CBE take care of the rest!”
Braden Gellenthien will now head to the Iowa ProAm, followed soon after by the third indoor stage in Nimes, France, where more than 1,200 archers are expected to compete for top honors.
“Braden continues his international dominance with another gold medal finish, and we couldn’t be more proud of him at Scott and CBE,” said Darrin Christenberry, pro staff manager for Scott and CBE. “Finishing the 2018 season on such a high note can only mean incredible things for what’s to come in 2019.”
Team USA’s Alexis Ruiz Continues Her Winning Ways
Also in Rome at the second Indoor World Series tournament, Elite Archery shooter Alexis Ruiz defended her Macau championship with another gold medal finish in the women’s compound division. (Click here to read details on her win in Macau, China.)
After the first day of qualifications, Ruiz found herself in second place with a 590. She followed suit with an impressive 150 in the quarterfinal to compete for gold, where she topped her opponent by a score of 147-139.
“I feel incredible about this win — it feels great to win back to back tournaments,” Alexis Ruiz said. “I set goals for myself for this tournament, and I’m so happy that I accomplished them. This weekend was going so well for me and it never stopped; I couldn’t be more thankful to my sponsors for providing me with the best equipment that helps me rank high.”
Alexis Ruiz will prepare in the coming weeks to head to Nimes, France, for the third indoor stage.
“Alexis is on fire. She trains hard with her VictoryX and it shows every time she steps up to the line,” said Elite Archery Pro Staff Manager Darrin Christenberry. “The entire Elite team is proud of Alexis and can’t wait to see her shine in Nimes.”
