Blackhawk! Launches New Logo

One of the most ubiquitous names in tactical gear has gone back to its roots, inventing a new logo to highlight its Navy SEAL lineage.

Blackhawk!, owned by the Vista Outdoor conglomerate, just released its new trademark that incorporates a trident into the art, the famed symbol of the U.S. frogman.

The logo ... reinforces the vow of BLACKHAWK!’s founder, a retired Navy SEAL, to make the best gear possible, adhering to the highest standards of quality and durability. ... That obsession with quality still applies to how the company produces gear more than 20 years later, honoring the vow with each product produced.

The story goes that Blackhawk! founder Greg Noel was navigating a minefield during Operation Desert Storm and his pack fell apart. He started making modifications to gear and building his own soft goods out of the back of his garage in Virginia Beach for his team buddies and the idea for Blackhawk! was born.

Since its sale to ATK and now Vista, Blackhawk! has undergone rebranding here and there. The new logo deepens the company's "commitment to its roots" in military special operations, the company says.
