Upcoming R100 National Archery Tour Events
The National Bowhunter Education Foundation (NBEF) invites you to participate in the R100 National Archery Tour as it heads to Ohio, Iowa, Wisconsin and Indiana for its next four events.
NBEF is sponsoring the 2023 R100 National Archery Tour. The R100 is celebrating 20 years of operating family friendly 3-D archery events. R100 works with local clubs and archery pro shops who host the events across the United States. NBEF chose to partner with R100 again to increase awareness of NBEF’s safety and success-focused bowhunter ed classes and to actively support the industry.
“The R100 events are very approachable for youth and adults. We’ve found these events are a great way for NBEF to engage with archers and foster an interest in bowhunting,” said NBEF Executive Director Marilyn Bentz. “We’re excited to sponsor the Youth Zone complete with colorful and unique targets.”
The Youth Zone features five uniquely painted dinosaur targets and two NASP targets. It is free to all supervised youth and cub shooters.
All events use the same format including two 50-target ranges (the Safari Range and North American Range). Specialty shoots are offered each day.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with the National Bowhunter Education Foundation as a way to promote the sport of archery as well as ethical hunting practices,” said R100 Co-owner Brittany Rinehart.
“We look forward to educating shooters all over the country as well as providing them with a fun, enjoyable archery event,” added R100 Co-owner Brad Rinehart.

Team for World University Games Receives Boost from Lancaster Archery Foundation
Thanks to the generosity of the Lancaster Archery Foundation, the eight-strong USA team heading to Chengdu, China, in July for the FISU World University Games will each receive a $1,000 grant.
The largest global multi-sports event for student-athletes, the World University Games will be staged over 12 days, from July 28-August 8, involving more than 10,000 student-athletes and officials from over 150 countries and regions.
“As was seen recently at the Collegiate Target Nationals, and with success at the World Cup Stage 1 earlier this year, the standard of our student-athlete archers has never been stronger,” said USA Archery CEO Rod Menzer. “USA Archery is grateful to the Lancaster Archery Foundation, whose generous support helps to offer our archers international experience that will only make them even better.”
The eight archers representing the United States are: Natalie Howell, Katherine Wu, Judith Gottlieb (recurve women); Chris Austin (recurve men); Sachiko Keane, Alyssa Tenney, Alyssa Sturgill (compound women); Ellisei Miller (compound men).
“It has been an honor for the Lancaster Archery Foundation to be able to assist our collegiate athletes as they travel internationally to represent the United States," said Dale Brubaker, Grants Coordinator with Lancaster Archery Foundation. "With this year’s event taking place in China, helping to alleviate some of the travel costs for the athletes will allow them to focus on the competition even more.”
The archery events of the Chengdu 2021 FISU Games will be held at the Modern Pentathlon Centre Equestrian Arena in Chengdu from July 27-31, with a total of 10 gold medals up for grabs. Archery and water polo are the only two sports starting a day before the opening ceremony.
Archery is one of the 15 compulsory sports represented at the World University Games, with up to three optional sports. The event will be broadcast to a global audience of over 300 million viewers. The Games were originally scheduled for the summer of 2021 but ultimately pushed back until 2023 due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
Alaska S3DA Host Inaugural 3D State Championship
Cook Inlet Archers is an archery club based in Chugiak, Alaska. The club was founded with the purpose to provide education, development, and respect for bowhunters. Cook Inlet Archers recently hosted the inaugural Alaska S3DA 3D State Championship featuring the first ever Alaska S3DA team, the Screaming Eagles.

“Our very first 3D State Championship was amazing,” Gose said. “We could not have done this without the support of our local archery club (Cook Inlet Archers), coaches, parents and countless volunteers. With this being our very first year having the S3DA program in our state, there have been some learning curves. I would like to congratulate these kids on their hard work and accomplishments.
“Currently Alaska has one team (Screaming Eagles) with archers ranging from age 6 to 17. We look to continue growing the program by adding numerous coaches, archers, and teams throughout the state over the course of the offseason. I feel the program is going to be very successful and we will gain lots of youth prior to next season. Our kids are eager to shoot and compete. We have had remarkable support from the community and outdoor programs to help us succeed.”
One of the parents, Jennifer Bamford, said, “The Alaska S3DA event was a great shoot for our kids! I love how our coaches have formed a fun, but competitive atmosphere for the kids. My hope is that S3DA will grow within the state, and we will have lots of other teams to compete against next season.”

NASP Concludes 2023 National Tournament Series with Open Championship Tournament
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, hosted the final 2023 national-level tournament for the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP). The combined Championship events included 3,838 archers from 36 states competing in the Open Championship Bullseye and 3D Tournaments held June 8-10.
NASP President Tommy Floyd said, “We are thrilled to be back at the beach! This location continues to be a great event for our archers and their families. We are very grateful for the tremendous support provided by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources leadership and staff as they really got behind this event. We continued our awarding of $500 scholarships to (20) randomly selected bullseye archers throughout the 3-day competition. This brought our random give-away scholarship total to (120) $500 awards over the course of our three national tournaments or $60,000 total! We believe this to be a tremendous benefit and incentive for the individual winners and their future. NASP is very grateful to its many Medal-level and Partner-level sponsors who continue to help make these scholarships possible for so many.”

At the beginning of the Open Championship awards ceremony, a scholarship shoot-off was held among the top overall male and female individual bullseye archers. These archers were selected based on the combined results of the Western and Eastern National Tournaments. The winners of each gender division took home the following scholarship money: 1st place $5,000; 2nd place $4,000; 3rd place $3,000; 4th place $2,000; and 5th place $1,000.
