Remington Partners with Youth Shooting Sports Alliance
Remington has pledged provide shooting equipment to support the non-profit Youth Shooting Sports Alliance and help their youth programs across the country.
“Many people, including youth, have turned to the outdoors and shooting sports activities to be socially distant during these times,” said Joel Hodgdon, marketing director for Remington Ammunition. “The YSSA assists youth development programs across the country by providing these new entrants with dependable, safe equipment, all the while sustaining the growth of introductory shooting sports programs. We are happy to be a part of this successful and important program.”
Equipment requests have come in steady throughout 2021 and continue to pour in. It is encouraged that program directors looking to team up with the YSSA contact them to get on the waiting list. “By the looks of things, youth programs are anticipating getting back to their ranges this spring and summer. We anticipate a break-out year, so make sure you contact us for equipment,” says Cyndi Flannigan, YSSA executive director.
“Having Remington as an industry partner is extremely exciting for us at the YSSA,” says Flannigan. “We’re on the same page as it relates to indoctrinating youth to shooting sports through these programs. It’s critical for the future of shooting sports that kids have the opportunity to learn these skills in a safe, positive and fun way. We are adamant and committed in our drive to provide quality equipment to support these programs.”
The Youth Shooting Sports Alliance was founded in 2007 and has become a main source for shooting sports equipment for youth shooting programs across the country. To date, the YSSA has loaned more than $1.6 million in equipment to youth programs, benefitting more than 95,000 youth.
TETRA Hearings Receives American Hunter Golden Bullseye
The NRA has awarded Tetra Hearing the 2021 Golden Bullseye Award in recognition of its pursuit-based program, Specialized Target Optimization (STO), for Gear of the Year.
STO is hearing technology that isolates and enhances specific game sounds such as a turkey gobble or elk bugle while also protecting the user from the loud sound of gun blasts.
“Being only our second year, this award really is awesome,” says Dr. Bill Dickinson, TETRA’s CEO and co-founder. “We knew from the beginning we’d have to change the way people think about sound, and especially protection, when it comes to hearing devices for hunting. Our goal was to optimize the unique sound experience that is specific to every pursuit and every hunter. After all, no two hunts are alike, and neither are two hunters’ ears. To be recognized for this program by a premier publication like American Hunter is extremely rewarding.”
TETRA was selected by a seven-member committee consisting of editors, graphic designers and veteran NRA publication staff. To qualify for consideration, a product must have been:
- Recently introduced and available to consumers prior to the selection of the Golden Bullseye Awards
- Used/tested by a staff member or regular contributor to the magazine and/or affiliated media
- Reliable in the field, meeting or exceeding the evaluator’s expectations
- Innovative in design and function
- Readily perceived as a value to the purchaser
- Styled in a manner befitting the shooting and hunting industry and, perhaps more importantly, its enthusiasts
The awards will be presented during the 2021 NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits scheduled for September 3-5, 2021, in Houston, Texas.
