The Pope & Young Club has announced new board member, Membership Chairman Mike Oropallo (above). The text below, written by Oropallo, sheds some light on his background and interests.
“Bowhunting, archery, wildlife and the outdoors are both my passion and my profession. I have been a bowhunter since the 1970s, have traveled extensively and collected trophy deer, elk, bear, muskox, red stag, cape buffalo and other species with the bow, and including a World Slam of all six wild turkey subspecies.
“I am also an attorney with over 30 years of complex civil trial experience, but with a focus on archery, the outdoor industry and wildlife, handling patent, trademark and copyright matters for a wide variety of outdoor and archery clients. I also counsel clients on the import, export and issues related to a wide variety of wildlife laws and issues, including the Endangered Species Act, CITES, the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, the Marine Mammal Protection Act, the Lacey Act, and including for natural history museums.
“I am also very active as a member of a wide variety of outdoor, trade and conservation organizations, and regularly attend annual meetings and events for (among others): the Archery Trade Association, the SHOT Show, Dallas Safari Club, Houston Safari Club, Safari Club International, the National Taxidermists Association, and the Pope & Young Club (having attended numerous bi-annual conventions).
“I regularly volunteer my time for these organizations, both in my professional capacity, in presenting on wildlife law and intellectual property law issues, and in serving on boards, committees and in other advisory capacities. And I have appeared on several outdoor television shows.
“I am 61 years old and a lifelong resident of the Finger Lakes Region of Central New York, where I am blessed to live with my wife Kim on the shore of beautiful Owasco Lake. I have three children, five grandchildren, and great friends in the outdoor community all over the world. In addition to bowhunting, I am an avid waterfowl hunter (having collected all North American huntable species), fly fisherman, and golfer.”
