NWTF Announces Virtual Convention and Sport Show for 2021
With concern for the safety and health of its members, partners and the public, the National Wild Turkey Federation recently announced that its 45th annual Convention and Sport Show will be held virtually in February 2021. Due to the ongoing pandemic and the inability to guarantee the health of convention-goers, the NWTF will be conducting its popular annual convention online in a format that will be announced at a later date. The NWTF will share more details in the months ahead as it finalizes strategic plans for a new and exciting virtual convention in 2021. Convention staff will contact vendors, who currently have reserved booth space for 2021, in the coming weeks with additional details on a virtual booth for 2021, guaranteeing a space for 2022 or applying for a full refund with no guarantees for 2022. Vendors should send immediate inquiries to exhibithall@nwtf.net.
Sig Sauer Announces Expansion of New Hampshire Operations
Sig Sauer, Inc. recently announced an expansion of its New Hampshire operations to the city of Rochester, New Hampshire.
Sig Sauer is poised to acquire a multi-building campus in Rochester, to relocate its Dover operation and expand overall New Hampshire operations, located within Crossroads Industrial Park situated on 35+ acres with up to 210,000 sq./ft. of space. This expansion is spurred by the need for additional manufacturing space and Sig Sauer’s continued market growth.
The expansion of Sig Sauer operations in New Hampshire is a result of a collaboration with the city of Rochester and the state of New Hampshire, including the New Hampshire Business Finance Authority.
Sig Sauer’s world headquarters is located at Pease International Tradeport in Newington, New Hampshire, and the company operates six additional locations across the state of New Hampshire, in addition to operations in Arkansas and Oregon.
E-Bikes OK'd for NPS, BLM and USFWS Public Lands, But Not Wilderness Areas
The Department of the Interior recently announced that it has finalized electric bike (e-bike) regulations that pave the way for land managers to allow more people, especially older Americans and those with physical limitations, to experience bicycling on public lands managed by the National Park Service, the Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Bureau of Reclamation.
Secretary’s Order 3376, Increasing Recreational Opportunities through the use of Electric Bikes called on Interior bureaus to develop policies and regulations to allow for e-bike use where traditional bicycles are allowed and to bring federal land e-bike experience more in line with state rules. The National Park Service policy adopted over a year ago has already resulted in more than 385 national parks evaluating e-bike use. The expanded bicycling experience has already been adopted at popular parks.
Local land managers will carry out the new regulations in their jurisdictions after taking into consideration public health and safety, natural and cultural resource protection and other management activities and objectives.
Public lands designated by Congress as “wilderness areas” will remain off-limits to both traditional bicycles and e-bikes.
The final rules were informed by public feedback received during 60-day public comment periods. Each final rule becomes effective 30 days after publication in the Federal Register.
