Kyle Douglas Claims Third NFAA Indoor Nationals Title
Team Gold Tip archer Kyle Douglas (above, center) won first-place recently at the National Field Archery Association (NFAA) Indoor Nationals. This year’s victory marks Kyle’s third NFAA Indoor National title in a row, beating 15 other perfect 600 120X scores.
Kyle’s win this year has set a record that will probably never be beat,” said Tim Gillingham, Gold Tip shooting staff manager. Douglas used 25.5-inch Gold Tip Triple X Pro shafts throughout the first two days of shooting, which put him in the final with 15 other archers.
“Kyle took down his third NFAA Indoor Nationals title in really impressive fashion,” Gillingham said. “The score goes inside out, so if the arrow touches a line, the shooter gets the lower score. Most shooters switch to a smaller diameter shaft to put the odds in their favor, but it requires a lot of preparation and last-minute tuning to get the type of accuracy required. Kyle switched to Gold Tip Pierce Tour 340s and put them all dead center for the win.”
Kyle Douglas shoots a 40-inch axle-to-axle PSE Citation.
Paige Pearce Wins USAT Arizona Cup for 3rd Consecutive Year
Bowtech Pro Paige Pearce has started off the 2022 season dominating podiums, and she once again brought home the gold at the recent USAT Arizona Cup. This win also marked another outstanding feat — taking the top spot three years in a row.
After the win, Paige said: “After solid matches to get into the gold medal final, it all came down to one final closest to center shoot-off arrow for the win. It's incredibly nerve-racking when the weight of the entire tournament all falls on one final arrow. I was able to shoot a 10 just barely closer to clinch the win for the third year in a row! Thank goodness my Reckoning 38 is forgiving when I'm nervous because I needed that confidence in the final match!”
“Just last weekend, Paige brought home a victory in the ASA, then flew home for just a couple of days,” said Todd Snader, Bowtech brand and shooting staff manager. “Just a day before the scoring shooting started, she went straight to Arizona. It's amazing to see Paige perform without missing a beat.”
Tim Gillingham Goes Back-to-Back in USAT
Tim Gillingham, who like Paige Pearce is part of Team Bowtech, not only puts the hammer down in 3-D, but also excels in FITA-style shooting. This weekend at the USAT Arizona Cup, Tim took the gold medal in the Masters Class for a second straight year. FITA-style shooting tests the archer's skills and ability to play the wind, often a make-or-break factor. Tim's often talked about "shoot-on-command" style shooting is ideally at home here, and his many titles prove it.
After the victory, Gillingham said, “More and more Bowtech bows are showing up at the premiere events in archery. The podium is hard to achieve, and there's nothing like having my Reckoning 38 get me to the top!”
