Pope and Young has recognized Doug Strecker (above) as the recipient of the Pope and Young Club’s Glenn St. Charles Outstanding Member Award. The award was established by Pope and Young to recognize outstanding volunteers within the organization, and members who exemplify P&Y’s mission to Preserve, Promote, and Protect Bowhunting.
“We were looking for someone who was giving back their time whenever and wherever it was needed,” stated Kathy Strecker, past P&Y membership chairman. “It was my pleasure to present the award to Doug Strecker as he certainly fit the bill of what the award was created for.”
Nominations for the award are submitted by fellow P&Y members. These applications are then reviewed by the membership committee and presented to the P&Y Board for final approval. The award was presented during the 2021 Award Ceremonies at the Pope and Young 32nd Biennial Convention in Reno, Nevada.
“Receiving the Glenn St. Charles Outstanding Member Award is the most important thing that has happened to me in the 63 years I have been involved with archery,” said Doug Strecker. “Pope and Young is made up mostly of volunteers and this award recognizes these volunteers. It was a great honor and a very humbling experience for me. Pope and Young has many fabulous volunteers that are deserving of this award. I graciously and humbly accept this award on behalf of all our great volunteers.”
