The Archery Shooter’s Association (ASA) 3-D season is off to a fast start, with the second event recently concluding in Fort Benning, Alabama. Even though the level of competition is off-the-charts high, three archers continue to show their dominance. 

Dan McCarthy (above; and below center) of Team Mathews took home first place in Men’s Open Pro division in Fort Benning, and this makes seven consecutive wins at ASA 3-D shoots for McCarthy (dating back into 2021); he also won 2021 Shooter of the Year. Note: McCarthy’s teammate Dane Johnson took home top honors in the Known Pro division in Fort Benning.

“McCarthy is on fire,” said Mathews Pro Staff Manager Derek Phillips. “It was also great seeing a young guy like Dane win big against a tough lineup. The team is firing on all cylinders!”

Paige Pearce Wins Back to Back

Hot off a major victory at the first ASA event of 2022 in Foley, Alabama, Bowtech Pro Shooter Paige Pearce (below, center) was looking to do it again in Fort Benning. Paige ended day one in first place, and day two she opened up her lead to win in the Women’s Known 50 division.

After her performance, Pearce said, “This weekend I shot insanely well with 16 up the first day and 34 up the second day! Apparently 34 up is a record in the women’s division, and I was super excited to be able to break records after my second ASA event!”

“The Women’s Known 50 class has some tough competitors, and it’s growing significantly,” said Todd Snader, Bowtech brand and shooting staff manager. “Paige has been instrumental in getting this class where it is today, all while showing how hard work pays off.”

Pearce is next headed to the USAT Arizona Cup, where she’s looking to defend her 2021 title and make it three in a row for 2022.

Tim Gillingham Repeats in Men’s Senior Pro

Once again Bowtech Pro Shooter Tim Gillingham took the top spot on the podium, winning the Men’s Senior Pro division in Fort Benning, Alabama. Like his teammate Paige Pearce, Gillingham also won the first ASA event of the year in Foley, Alabama.

Gillingham (above, center), who is always in his element shooting 3-D events, said, “The most amazing thing to me is that in five years of shooting Bowtech bows, I have not had one equipment problem while competing. They are truly the most reliable, accurate bows I have ever shot. Easy to set up, and it allows me to concentrate on the other aspects of the game.”
