The Alabama Department of Public Safety has selected the new Model 1301 Tactical from Beretta as the agency’s primary semiautomatic shotgun. The state’s DPS has placed an order for 657 Model 1301 Tacticals.

The Beretta Model 1301 Tactical was designed specifically for the needs of tactical shooters such as law enforcement professionals. Compact for use in tight quarters and getting in and out of vehicles, it is rugged and accurate for use when lives are on the line. It has an 18.5-inch barrel and an overall length of 37.8 inches. The black synthetic stock features a spacer-based adjustable length of pull and aggressive checkering on the grip area for a sure and slip-free hold in the heat of the moment or when wearing gloves.

A solid rear “ghost-ring” sight is standard for fast, accurate, two-eyes-open shooting while a Picatinny rail allows the easy attachment of other sights or accessories. The front Tritium sight is designed to be easily visible indoors and outdoors under widely varying lighting conditions and is interchangeable. The bolt release and charging handle are oversized for easy operation in a multitude of environments without looking. The safety is also oversized and it is located right at the trigger guard for quick and easy operation.

The Model 1301’s BLINK gas piston system is designed to cycle 36% than any other shotgun on the market.
