The Italian Firearms Group of Amarillo, Texas, recently became the sole U.S. distributor for Italian gunmaker Tanfoglio.
Probably best known for their competition pistols, Tanfoglio has also made significant inroads into the law enforcement and personal defense markets in recent years. Offered in Xtreme, Competition, and Defense variants, the Defiant Series continues to expand and is now only available from the IFG family of dealers and distributors.
“The Italian Firearms Group is extremely proud to partner exclusively with Tanfoglio and we are committed to providing the best customer service possible in support of such an iconic brand,” said Justin Dodd, IFG’s chief of operations. “We currently offer over 20 unique products in the Defiant series, and we’re focused on continued growth and evolution of the product line for the U.S. market.”
The Defiant Series includes a half-dozen semi-automatics for the self-defense and concealed carry markets, and they are available in 9mm, .38 SUPER, .40 S&W, 10mm and .45 ACP. The competition pistols in the Defiant Xtreme line are not only some of the most unique-looking handguns in competitive circles today, but they are also among the most accurate and reliable.
The Defiant Competition offerings include the Domina model, a leader in the Open ISPC Division events, and the Defiant Stock I, which Tanfoglio set up specifically for Practical Shooting Production Division and well as IDPA SSP and ESP Classes.
For the entry-level competitor, the Stock I allows the new shooters to enter the world of competitive shooting sports, and seasoned shooters to compete in divisions that have been until now reserved for very few models.
In 1948, Giuseppe Tanfoglio and Antonio Sabatti founded the “SATA” company for the production of shotguns and components, and a few years later began making small pistols in .25 ACP, .22 Short, and .22 LR. By 1969, the Fratelli Tanfoglio company was created and specialized its production and manufacturing on semi-automatic pistols in various calibers for self-defense. The manufacturer’s focus again narrowed in 1986 when the company began production of models for sport shooting — specifically for I.P.S.C. and I.D.P.A. competitions — while continuing as a global leader in law enforcement and duty-style firearms.
Established in 2010, IFG brings together four of the top Italian gunmakers into one U.S.-based distribution channel: F.A.I.R., Pedersoli, Sabatti and Tanfoglio.
Each IFG partner manufacturer represents at least one of the four primary categories of firearm manufacturing — competition handguns, hunting and precision rifles, state-of-the-art shotguns, and historical reproductions — bringing the latest in firearm design, technology and materials to America, while continuing to follow the centuries-old gun manufacturing traditions of Italy.
FFLs interested in carrying or restocking Tanfoglio should contact IFG directly through the IFG website, at (800) 450-1852 or info@italianfirearmsgroup.com. IFG also provides Tanfoglio firearms through the major shooting sports distributors.
