Kestrel Ballistics has partnered with Hornady to launch the Kestrel 5700 Ballistics Weather Meter with Hornady 4DOF, an onsite environmental measurement tool with precise Hornady 4DOF trajectory solutions.

The integrated Hornady 4DOF ballistic engine provides trajectory solutions based on projectile drag coefficient along with the exact physical modeling of the projectile and its mass and aerodynamic properties. Coupled with features such as zero angle and aerodynamic jump calculation, it is said to be ideal for long-range calculations. The unit can run for hundreds of hours on a single AA lithium battery and features large buttons along with a bright, clear backlit display for easy operation in the field.

The Kestrel 5700 Ballistics Weather Meter with Hornady 4DOF is IP-67 waterproof rated and MIL-STD-810 drop-tested. It measures wind speed and direction, temperature, altitude and more.

The G1/G7 Ballistics Solver includes a large library of independently tested bullet data. A gun profile can be set up via the free Kestrel LiNK app, and then the Kestrel unit will be field-ready. That will allow users to calculate trajectories under any conditions, even in areas without cellular service.

The Kestrel 5700 Ballistics Weather Meter with Hornady 4DOF will debut at the 2019 NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits in Indianapolis and be available to pre-order online. The unit has an MSRP of $499.
