The late Earl Hoyt Jr., an avid archer and engineer at Boeing, started Hoyt Archery in 1931 in a garage in St. Louis, Missouri. “As he tinkered with his bows trying to maximize accuracy and consistency, he realized he could make better bows,” Hoyt’s Jeremy Eldredge said.
And he did exactly that. Hoyt Jr. began applying engineering principles to bow designs, and started building his own bows. “Soon, his bows were outperforming any he’d previously shot,” Eldredge stated. “Building world-class bows and putting them into the hands of world-class archers consumed his thoughts, and he left Boeing to start Hoyt Archery. It grew it into a successful brand with a reputation for superior designs.”
In modern times, Hoyt Archery holds Earl Hoyt Jr.’s engineering torch at new heights by focusing intently on research and development. In 2010, Hoyt revolutionized bow technology when it pioneered the hollow carbon-tube riser featured on the original Carbon Matrix bow (right). The concept reduced mass weight while maintaining strength and rigidity. Like all Hoyt technologies, it passed Hoyt’s Torture Test with flying colors and paved the way for more cool carbon bows.
Nine years later, we’ve seen multiple renditions of Hoyt’s take on carbon. The pinnacle is the 2019 Carbon REDWRX RX-3. From top to bottom, the RX-3 flaunts brand new technologies. Most notable is the Parallel-Track Tube Riser Design, which widens the riser to improve balance and rigidity. It also results in the most vibration-free experience Hoyt has delivered yet.
Innovative Weight-Forward Design helps the RX-3 balance optimally throughout every stage of its draw cycle. What’s more, the grip adjusts laterally for centershot based on individual hand shapes and pressure points. A new limb-and-cam system livens the RX-3’s energy and performance, all while drawing smoothly, thanks to the velvety ZT Pro Cam and ball-bearing roller guard.
The RX-3 is available in three different models that offer everyone something: Carbon RX-3, Carbon RX-3 Ultra and Carbon RX-3 Turbo. Available in 11 different hunting finishes ranging from popular camo patterns to tactical neutral colors, every RX-3 model rocks looks that could kill.
