A quick Google search of “archery shop Colorado” revealed Bowhunter’s Edge as the top result. After reading through dozens of reviews, I instantly learned the Colorado Springs, Colorado, archery store is well-liked by its customers. Now comes the shocker: The store opened in February 2014. To gain such a following that quickly means it is run by professionals.
After a few minutes on the phone with Steve Teegardin, it’s apparent why the store gets high praise. Steve has a 50-year history of real estate sales; the family has run various other businesses over the years, too.
“We understand customer service,” Teegardin said, “and that comes first in our shop like it has in our other businesses. We don’t want a customer to walk out of here with a new bow and not understand how to use it. We go the extra mile and spend time with our clients. Taking time to cultivate relationships creates positive customer return rates.”
“This year at the 2019 ATA Show, the new VaporTrail Gen 7 rest really caught my attention,” he continued. “Steve Fondie and ‘Ears’ are good people, and they offer great products. We were fortunate to get good interaction with them at the show.”
“We’ve also seen numerous lighted-nock companies emerge in recent years,” Teegardin added. “That technology is changing quickly and improving. One standout at the show was the Breadcrumb Bluetooth Nock. Interestingly, I had a similar idea a few years ago, but never thought someone would do it. It’s cool technology for sure.”
“In my opinion, Bowtech has really changed the tuning game,” he continued. “Its engineers gear the technology toward consumers. The bows are adjustable without going to a bow shop. They’re tunable without going to a bow shop. And I believe Bowtech has taken it to the next level with Cam Drive technology featured on the new Reckoning.”
“Bowtech’s Realm SR6 is just way too smooth for a speed bow,” he shared. “It’s unbelievable. I can’t seem to walk by the one in my draw length at the shop without picking it up and shooting it. The SR6 is already flying off the shelves. Our customers love that bow. I also appreciate that each Bowtech bow comes in box stamped with a Bible verse.”
“I also found a couple of neat new bow accessories at the show,” he added. “Apex Gear’s Gamechanger quiver is lightweight and mounts very tight to the bow to improve balance. Black Gold Sights always look good, and the new Pro Sight makes a great addition to the lineup. It has micro-adjustable pins and a cool new mounting system.”
“Probably the most unique product I saw was the Gamma Scan by Atomic Rods,” Teegardin said. “It looked like a great tool, that will help you check form and shoot better. I ordered one at the show, and my customers are already asking about it. We have high hopes for the Gamma Scan.”
