With some payloads topping 1,000 pellets, the new blended Heavyweight TSS (Tungsten Super Shot) turkey loads from Federal offer more than double the pellet count of lead No. 5 loads of the same weight. The material used in the TSS pellets has a density of 18 g/cc, which is 22 percent higher than standard tungsten, and 56 percent denser than lead. This results in more energy and velocity retained at longer ranges.
According to Federal, the Flitecontrol Flex wad performs flawlessly through ported and standard turkey chokes, providing consistent and deadly patterns. This full-length wad prevents direct contact between the extra-hard pellets and the bore, protecting the barrel. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Federal Heavyweight TSS is donated to the National Wild Turkey Federation.
